I've picked up the driver from the eepro100 ftp site, but this is 1.09l.
Which version would you recommend, and where can I get it?

To be honest, 1.08 is a very old, if not say ancient, version.
Donald has released 1.09 drivers with subversions from a to t, AFAIK,
and then 1.10.  I also release several versions with serious changes.

So, I can't comment the behavior of that version of the driver.
