Doesn't help eepro100 but if you have a cluster, just adding PLIP
cables between machine pairs allows to play with the ethernet modules.
If plip is configured, log from the twin machine and play with the
ethernet interfaces. I used to use it a lot (not that plip is broken
from 2.2.7 till 2.2.13).
A plip cable cost around 6$ and this can be added dynamically without
shutting down the machines.
