Transmit timeouts

Daniel:

Just a suggestion, but you might want to leave the mii-diag running for a
while so it gets data during one of these faults (you don't seem to be
getting the faults anywhere near as often as I am though, which might make
waiting for it difficult...)

[root(2)@ironclad log]# grep "^Sep 7" messages | grep "kernel: eth0: Trying
to restart the transmitter..." | wc -l
     80
[root(2)@ironclad log]# grep "^Sep [567]" messages | grep "kernel: eth0:
Trying to restart the transmitter..." | wc -l
    145

And I am not even under considerable load (I run a personal server, with two
people who check their POP mail every now and then, and myself who uses IMAP
a lot and an occasional single remote X session). It usually happens when I
try to copy a large file off using SMB, or when I do something that requires
a rather large redraw on X. The network I am on doesn't even get much
traffic on it either. :(

Sincerely,
Jay Freeman (saurik)
