card produces very high load

Hi!

I have an EEpro100B as a network interface on my firewall for the
inside. For outside there is an 3Com509 installed. The board is an Asus
P2L97-DS with two PII-266 and an onboard Adaptec 2940. I use the
tis-Firewall-Toolkit. When I run only three instances of Netscape and
connect to a close site and make many reloads, I am able to get a load
on the machine of 8-10. With only 20 processes of the http-gateway I get
a load of 50 !!! When I use xosview, I can see, that the system is
almost 100% of the CPU-Time in the system, and alomost none of the time
in user-space. Kernel is 2.0.35, but I had the same problem with 2.0.34.
Any ideas?
