Someone sent me a copy of the LICENSE file, it cites the academic
restriction and then includes the Artistic License 2 and GPLv3.

The GPLv3 in that file says:

# If the Program as you received it, or any part of it, contains
# a notice stating that it is governed by this License along with
# a term that is a further restriction, you may remove that term.

So effectively cancelling out the academic use only restriction!

It's all a bit academic now (ahem) as the MPI component is a Perl
program, and Perl isn't supported on BlueGene/Q. :-(
