Larger pages will reduce TLB thrashing/pressure. The best way to tell
if you need it is to run performance counter tools during your program
run. If you haven't, you might be optimizing something which provides
minimal if any benefit.
Have you profiled the code (using any of the various tools) to see where
it is spending its time?
