[Beowulf] Beowulf SysAdmin Job Description

The request wasn't so much about finding candidates, or even questions to
ask candidates, but to get a "good" idea what should go into an HPCC
Administrator's job description over & above just a plain old every day
System Admin job.  I don't know about every where else, but our HPCC people
do way more then our regular Unix/Windows SysAdmins.

Other mailing lists like GridEngine (or other resource managers), OpenMPI,
or various applications/OSes might also be helpful.  Google searching names
usually provides a list of mailing list entries.  Of course, some of us are
less social than others, especially w/ respect to mailing lists, so don't
let an absence of correspondence sway your decision too heavily.  For
instance, I read this list religiously but seldom post.  On the other hand,
seeing your potential candidate ask very basic, beginner questions on a
mailing list within the last few months might be a bad sign.  I think that
for UNIX/Linux/HPC Systems Administration, mailing lists can be a gold mine
of information about candidates.  In some instances, you can get an accurate
picture of how the candidate resolves issues or attacks projects.

I've been doing that since the day I joined the Forum.  I'm not a real big
re-inventor of the wheel, more of a standards based guy.  I'm more then
happy to try something new and if it works better then they way I've been
doing it, into the toolset it goes.  If not its on to the next item on the
list.

More then likely I'll take the chart Tom Pierce posted and turn it into the
verbiage my organization likes to use.  Personally I think it is pretty damn
good the way it is and a rather unique way at looking at a position.  All it
was missing was make the new pot of coffee and make fun of users behind
their backs. :)

One possible trick: check these archives to see if they post here. If so ,
read their posts.
