We wrote our own PXE server handle the many problems that can occur with
the typical DHCP+TFTP (+ maybe a PXE auxiliary info server).  But I can
suggest the most common problems:
   Firewall configuration blocking packets
   Lost configuration files in the 8.0 upgrade.
   Changed syntax of configuration files.

There are many opportunities for security holes if you are using a
general purpose DHCP server.  The ISC DHCP server has extensive
functionality.  Much of the complexity comes from dealing with dynamic
assignments from multiple communicating servers.  While cluster should
automatically handle new machines, cluster PXE boot service has far
fewer configuration options than enterprise-wide DHCP+boot service.
