I think we all know and agree with the great arguments for open source.  In 
this case, it boils down to money and market share.  The 900 lbs gorilla 
wants to remain the 900 LBS gorilla and it does not tolerate competition 
well.  If the US government (a huge client base) were to adopt open source 
software-it directly translates to not buying M$ software.  And we know how 
M$ deals with that.
