the distro kernel from kernel for redhat, especially the smp and
enterprise ones are pretty scary in terms of how they diverge from
2.2.19... I'd encourage you run the same boxes on 2.4.8 and/or 2.2.20pre9,
all my serverworks boxes with ide in use (we have some with no ide at all)
are currently running 2.4.8 or later...
