3c996-t w/ tyan dual athlon mobo probs...

I am running a 3com 3c996-t netowkr card under a redhat 7.1 install and as
soon as I telnet into another machine or do anything on the network, I
ahve been getting crashes and wierd characters coming across the screen.
Such as when I cd /etc/ and then just do an ls.

Is there anything that is known to be wrong with this card?  I would
appreciate any help.  Thanks.

This card is in every machine in the cluster.
