Does firewire support broadcast?

I've got a Beowulf app where broadcasting very large vectors is a
serial IPC bottleneck. 100 Mbps ethernet isn't fast enough to
scale beyond a couple of machines. The performance
reported for GAMMA over 1 Gbps ethernet looked like it would
scale well to around 64 nodes.
 
Since firewire is up to 400 Mbps and considerably cheaper than
Gbps ethernet, I'm hoping it might provide a cost-effective, moderately
scalable alternative. But I can't figure out if it supports broadcasting
or not. Anyone know?
