Privacy Statement for Beowulf.org
Scyld Computing Corp. ("Scyld") is the sponsor of the Beowulf.org site. We recognize that the Beowulf community is a loosely organized confederation of researchers, developers, and enthusiasts. Most people in the Beowulf community are independent, creative and self-sufficient. The community is held together by the willingness of its members to share ideas and discuss successes and failures in their development efforts.
Our policy is not to sell or provide to others our visitors' information. Since the purpose of this site is to allow individuals in the community to support each other, other participants may contact you to follow up on a question or answer. However, our policy is not to contact you for anything unrelated to Beowulf unless you "opt in" to such contact when registering to participate in discussions. You should be aware that in certain circumstances, Scyld Computing Corp. may be required to disclose information pursuant to applicable law or government orders.
Below you will find a detailed account of Scyld's privacy practices.
Information Collected Online
Our website sometimes requires you to give us personal information when you do things like register for a maillist, bulletin board, or submit a site or product for review. Scyld may use your personal information only for marketing, customer service, delivery of products, aftercare service and related activities thereof. In situations such as these, you will be given a choice as to whether you would like Scyld or our business partners to contact you in the future. This is an "opt-in" process. If you opt-in, we rely on your consent to send you information, special offers, and promotional materials. In many cases, you may choose whether you would like to be contacted via mail, email, phone, or not at all. We will only contact you via the methods you choose. An exception will be made in the rare case that we find a significant issue that requires your immediate attention. For your protection, we may contact you via phone or email as the situation warrants.
Scyld trains its employees on our privacy policy guidelines and makes our privacy policy available to our business partners. In addition, Scyld and its business partners enter into confidentiality agreements which requires care and precautions be taken to prevent loss, misuse, or disclosure of your personal information.
Out of special concern for children's privacy, we do not accept personal information from children who are under the age of 13.
