GNIC II is not working

Hello -

We have experienced similar problems with the GNIC-II cards in Redhat
Linux 6.0 for Alpha (kernel 2.2.5) and Slackware Linux (kernel 2.2.6. In
an attempt to find another gigabit solution, we've tried a 3Com
3C985B-SX NIC and it has been working flawlessly for the last several
days (we *just* got the card) on a dual PIII-450 system (same hardware
the GNIC-II worked badly in). We are using both samba and netatalk on
the server, exporting some raid arrays.
