Run  'vortex-diag -a' to verify that the chip is set to full duplex mode.


You might also try the updated driver
  mkdir /tmp/netdrivers/
  cd /tmp/netdrivers/
  ncftp ftp://ftp.scyld.com/pub/network/netdrivers.tgz
  tar xfvz netdrivers.tgz
  make
  make install
