I have sent email to our Windows gurus to ask if they can tell me if the
GX150's we have are or are not doing autonegotiate.

Here's some more detailed output from the 3c90x testing:  mii-diag
output.  Interesting observations:  Is a PHY #3072 valid?

When media_select is 10Base-T, the PHY tells the driver that
autonegotiate is possible, nay happy, but that it's been set to 10Base-T.

With autonegotiate, the tranceiver registers are all ZEROs.

Perhaps Donald can make the appropriate hat, brooch, or pterydactyl of
this printout.  :-)

No options enables no media.
Auto-sense (media_select=7)
makes no complaints but enables no working media with the following
mii-diag output:
