I found that if I ran "ifdown eth0 && modprobe -r 3c59x && 
modprobe 3c59x && ifup eth0"  I could get the ifup to complete 
and fetch DHCP information.  But, when I tried to use the card, 
all HTTP and FTP communication would fail.  Ping would work
successfully.
