First of all, with this version of the kernel, the 3c59x driver was not
updated to recognize correctly the 3C905C cards. Either use the 3Com
driver (3c90x) from this kernel, or upgrade to kernel 2.2.16-3 (also from
RH, to which you might want to upgrade for security reasons anyway).

I guess it's a PCI problem. Try moving the card to another slot. Try
selecting "Bus 0" if you have several PCI buses. With some BIOS-es is
possible to assign an IRQ for the card.
If it's still not working, please show us /proc/pci, /proc/interrupts and
the detection messages from network driver initialization.
