Hey all, I have been trying for days to get my 3com Fast EtherLink XL card
working in my linux box. I have tried a variety of ways to figure out the
problem but none seem to have any effects. First off my system is a Intel
Celleron 333 w/64 meg of ram running on a Abit BH-6 mother board. My
Netcard, as stated, is a 3com Fast Etherlink XL PCI (3c905) that works. I
used it in my windows machine until I couldn't get any other card to work
in my linux box, so I slammed in the 3com card. I have check the network
connection, and it is fine. I have also tried just initializing the card
with any driver, and it says, "delaying eth0 initialization." I dont' know
if anybody else has had the same problems with the Boomarang cards, but any
and all help would be appreciated. I have tried to list the error messages
that might be relavent below, but regaurdless, see what you can make of it. :)

Here is the exact info on what happens when I try to compile the driver.
The error messages below occur and no module is compiled, I don't know if
this is due to the fact that I am doing it wrong or the fact that I did
compile it a while back and used the install command to put it in the
/lib/modules/net dir or something, but I deleted it because I thought it
compiled wrong. Also, I have tried to compile the "alpha" boomarang.c and
it compiles fine, I just can't get linux to recognize it as a registered
module, do they have to be under the perferred dir in /lib or can they be
in the current-version as wel? Here goes:

--Compile Command Itself:
gcc -DMODULE -D__KERNEL__ -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O6 -c 3c59x.c `[ -f
/usr/include/linux/modversions.h ] && echo -DMODVERSIONS`

--Compile Command Errors:
/usr/src/modules/3c59x.c:94: parse error before `<'
/usr/src/modules/3c59x.c: In fuction `vortex_probe1';
/usr/src/modules/3c59x.c:879: stray `\' in program
/usr/src/modules/3c59x.c:869: parse error before `;'
/usr/src/modules/3c59x.c:926: `mii_preamble_required' undeclared (first use
this function)
/usr/src/modules/3c59x.c:926: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only
once for each function it appears in.)
/usr/src/modules/3c59x.c: In fuction `mdio_read';
/usr/src/modules/3c59x.c:2047: `mii_preamble_required' undeclared (first
use this fuction)

If somebody could PLEASE help me I would be forever gratefull!

Thanks in advance.

Bob
