Problem with 3c59x.c 0.99L on Dell GX1

Hi,

I am using the above 3c59x.c vortex/boomerang driver on a number of Dell
GX1s which contain a 3C905B. The cards are set (using the DOS etherdisk
3c90xcfg.exe utility) to 10mbit/half duplex.

About 50% of the time, the network driver starts and runs with no problem.

The rest of the time, I get an endlessly scrolling series of messages
which starts with:

eth0: Host error, FIFO diagnostic register 0000
[repeated 20ish times]
eth0: Too much work in interrupt, status 8003 Temporarily disabling
functions (7ffc)

and continues with

eth0: Host error, FIFO diagnostic register 0800

which scrolls endlessly, interspersed with nearly unreadable 'Too much
work in interrupt' messages.

Does anyone know of a solution to this problem?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,

Giles
