Problem with Linux 2.1.120 (v0.99F)

[ I have just joined the list, so please excuse me if this has recently been
  discussed, but http://studentweb.tulane.edu/~siekas/linux-vortex/ and
  http://studentweb.tulane.edu/~siekas/linux-vortex-bug/ fail.
  I do not see "SIOSIFFLAGS: Try again", so not the std Dell problem ??
  In any case, I can't control the PCI BIOS, and it's onboard :-(

On a Dell GXa300MTbrEM+ (onboard 3Com 3C905 100bTX (rev 0)), Linux 2.1.119 
(out of the box - v0.99E) works OK, but 2.1.120 (out of the box - v0.99F) 
fails.
