Hello,

my linux box keeps randomly crashing, today it did it while in text mode,
so I was able to capture the dying words of the kernel on screen:

kernel panic:skput:over 001a25c0:252
in swapper task - not syncing

So I checked System.map which puts me into the vortex card territory
(of which I have two installed, see hardware/software config below).

Excerpt from System.map:

0019feb8 t dummy_close
0019febc T dummy_init
0019fef0 t dummy_xmit
0019ff14 T tc59x_probe
0019ff4c t vortex_scan
001a0324 t vortex_found_device
001a04c4 t vortex_probe1
001a0ab0 t vortex_open
001a11b8 t vortex_timer
001a15ec t vortex_tx_timeout
001a1838 t vortex_error
001a1ac4 t vortex_start_xmit
001a1c90 t boomerang_start_xmit
001a1e44 t vortex_interrupt
001a2184 t vortex_rx
001a23b0 t boomerang_rx
001a2774 t vortex_close
001a28ec t vortex_get_stats
001a2918 t update_stats
001a2a5c t vortex_ioctl
001a2bbc t set_rx_mode
001a2c14 t mdio_sync
001a2ca4 t mdio_read

Hardware:

dual ppro 200, Supermicro P6 DNE, 320 MB RAM, AHA 2940 PCI and
SCSI cheetah u2w 18GB, two 3c905 tpx/PCI, one at irq 5 and one at irq 9.
HP 4000TS tape backup, 2.5 GB EIDE on port 1, IDE CDROM on port 2

Software:
linux 2.0.35 and 3c509.c version 0.99F. I also tried E, but it crashed
the same, and G wouldn't allow my route to work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, -Borries
