Sorry about letting this slip through.  The message length limit
ususally caches viruses, but this one is smaller than the usual
infectious email.

As is typical, the brain-dead virus scanners cause far more traffic than
the original message.  It's very difficult to filter out automated
scanner replies.

Scanners should only reply to directly addressed messages, not lists.

Don't imagine that handling a list is easy, or that most spam gets
through.  The lists are run by mailman, which is a good tool.  Mailman
still requires that I hand moderate messages that trigger a "hold"
filter, and that I add new filters to every list by hand.  Over the
holiday weekend, a favorite period for spammers and virus releases,
there were over a hundred messages held for moderation on the lists.
Not a single one was legitimate.
