Dear Tulip list :
Trying to install Linksys LNE100TX(v4.1 printed on the chip) card
on REDHAT 7.0. End result is ==> the PCI device is currently
not being seen. Verified that the card works in NT 4.0SP6 on the same
box. I just bought the card for $24($10 rebate) from BestBuy two weeks
ago.

STEPS :

- first had trouble compiling tulip.c(092 and 0921) on RH 7.0 got a
bunch of "BUSY" errors

- Thomas Dood from ted@cypress.com was nice enough to take the time
and repackaged netdriver-2.0-3.src.rpm into an RPM that works for
RH7.0. This RPM works and tulip.c finally compiles with a bunch of
warnings about symbols redefined but it's OK. (BTW if anyone would
like to get Mr.Dood's RH 7.0 Netdriver SRPM please email me and I will
forward his email to you. I'm not sure if this list supports attachment)

- after that did the following :
>[root@mypc /]# depmod -a
>[root@mypc /]# insmod pci-scan
>Using /lib/modules/2.2.16-22/net/pci-scan.o
>insmod: a module named pci-scan already exists

The question is :
- does this mean the latest 0921 tulip.c doesn't support ver 4.1
LNE100TX card yet ?
If yes then I guess I will swap another ISA SMC card with this card
and make the second ISA NIC work on this box and use the new Linksys
on another NT 4.0 box. I already set up one
ISA SMC 8416 to work on this box with no problem. The eventual goal
is to setup two NICs on this box and make it a NAT gateway so my
internal PCs can share the Internet connection. This box is only an old
P90 with 32Mb of RAM......
If no can you advise me on what files to check and how to diagnose this
problem ?

I am really not sure what the problem is. Like I said the card works fine
in NT 4.0 on the same machine and so far I have one ISA NIC working.

Thank you
