Hello,

Thanks for contacting NETGEAR technical support.
According to our engineers the D1 and D2 basically are the same design. 
D1 uses Level-one ST10040/LXT970 phy and the MAC controller 82C169B is 
designed to work with that particular
phy.  With D2 card, we modified the MAC controller (82C169C) to make it
work with the Broadcom PHY (BCM5202).  There is no performance variation

between the two cards.
