Fw: Problems w/ LinkSys EtherFast 10/100 v2.0

I hope this is going out to the right place. I recently purchases a
LinkSys EtherFast 10/100 LAN Card (version 2.0). I bought this thinking it
was the same NIC which resides in my P90 MUD server (which seems to run well
enough). The 2.0 card appears to be quite a different beast, however. I
have tried using the card in the following environments:

1) using tulip.c (v0.91 4/14/99) under Linux 2.1.122 on an Intel Pentium 90
(Slackware 3.5).
2) using tulip.c (v0.91g 7/16/99) under Linux 2.2.10 on an Intel Pentium Pro
180 (Slackware 4.0)

In both cases I get the following:

eth0: Lite-On PNIC-II rev 37 at 0xf000, 00:A0:CC:32:A7:2C, IRQ 11.
...[ snipped hd and swapspace stuff ]...
eth0: Transmit timed out, status e4060000, CSR12 000000c4, resetting...
eth0: Transmit timed out, status e4060000, CSR12 000000c4, resetting...
eth0: Transmit timed out, status e4060000, CSR12 000000c4, resetting...
...[ nonstop until I take the interface down]...

I am wondering if I am doing something wrong? Do I need to manually modify
the driver source to enable the MII stuff (I am not a kernel hacker to any
degree)? Is this card not yet supported? I hope I didn't come off sounding
too much the fool :P

[Note(s): Both of these machines are hooked up up to a PCI (PCI=Japanese
manufacturer in this case) FT-08E Fast Ethernet 8-port hub (100baseT only).
The network is also populated by two celeron machines running NT (both
having 3Com 10/100's I believe) and a Cisco 675 DSL router. It is also
worth mentioning that the card works fine under Windows 98 on the PPro using
the drivers provided by LinkSys].
