Please confirm: this board has a fiber connection only, with no twisted pair.

What part number is on the transceiver chip?

First problem -- the EEPROM states that the card has a MII 100baseTx
twisted pair transceiver, and that the transceiver should be configured
for fixed speed, half duplex.

Second problem -- the transceiver isn't found.  

I'm guessing that you don't really have a MII transceiver.

I'm guessing that you have a 100baseFx __SYM__ transceiver, and that the
setting should be full duplex.
