Problem Setting the Media type.

I am not doubting if there is some problem with the computer....
 Because before buying Netgear, I bought LinkSys Network Kit and it had the
same problem at 100Mbs
I returned it and bought this Netgear. I didn't know even this one is based on
the same chip. I am thinking of
returning this netgear and buying two 10Mbs ethernet card and a cross-patch
cable....
  Is  there any good card recommended for Linux.... I got a 100Mhz Cyrix 6x86
PC and a 500Mhz Pentium III....
I want a card which can work well with these type.
