tulip 21041 - no way in 2.2.14

Dear maintainers,

The new tulip driver in the 2.2.14 does not work for me, the connection
doesn't show up.

It did in earlier 2.2.x kernels as well as most 2.0.x ones (although I had to
get a newer one now and then).

It certainly worked ok in 2.2.13, using it right now.

The card is a SMC 8432 with a 21041 on board, connected to an UTP port at
10Mb/s (of course, that's all the card wats to do).

The eth-related kernel messages from 2.2.14 are:

eth0: Digital DC21041 Tulip rev 17 at 0xf880, 00:00:C0:BF:CE:E9, IRQ 9.
eth0: 21041 Media table, default media 0000 (10baseT).
eth0: 21041 media #0, 10baseT.
eth0: 21041 media #4, 10baseT-FD.
eth0: 21041 media #1, 10base2.
eth0: 21143 10baseT link beat good.
eth0: 21041 transmit timed out, status fc260000, CSR12 000051c8, CSR13 ffffef01, CSR14 ffffffff, resetting...
eth0: 21143 10mbps sensed media.

It appears to probe a 21043 and 21143, but those are definitely not on the
card.

Wanted to let you guys know this.

If I can do some testing or if you want to hint me something, please
reply to one of the addresses below, since I'm not on the list.

Thanks,
