another Problem with 0.91g-ppc driver in 2.2.14

I recently installed a CNet 100Mb card (Macronix 98715-based) under
2.2.14, using the 0.91g-ppc driver.  I use 'insmod tulip.o debug=4
options=0' to install the module.

from dmesg:
Found Macronix 98715 PMAC at PCI I/O address 0x6000.
tulip.c:v0.91g-ppc 7/16/99 becker@cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov
eth1: Macronix 98715 PMAC rev 32 at 0x6000, 00:80:AD:46:C6:A6, IRQ 10.

I am connected to a Netgear FE108 100BaseTx Hub, which supports 100Mb in
half-duplex mode only.

The card appears to work correctly until I attempt some IO-intensive
tasks (e.g. compiling tulip-diag over the network, starting Netscape,
which accesses my mail files from a Linux server). Then the system bogs
down and I get a string of errors:

Jan 24 11:25:11 pc18 kernel: nfs: server marty not responding, still
trying
Jan 24 11:25:12 pc18 kernel: nfs: task 45 can't get a request slot

Netscape hangs and never displays a window. The process appears to be
immortal -- I need to reboot in order to kill it.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
