Hello,

I have two machines:
- Dec Alpha XL 266, 32 MB, SCSI HD, ISDN Teles, Linux 2.0.36-pre (my
server)
- Amd K6, 80 MB, SCSI, Dual boot Win98 / Linux 2.0.35
Both machines have Compex RL 100 TX NIC's connected via a Netgear FE104
100 Mb hub.
Boot message on the server:
----

Oct 12 19:09:14 linuxserver kernel: eth1: No link beat on the MII

----

The driver is loaded as a module:
----[/etc/conf.modules]
alias eth0 tulip
options tulip options=13 debug=1
----

The machine is very stable as long as I access the machine from the
other machine when it is running Linux. To stress the machine I have
tried creating an index on a large database (disk and mem i/o intensive)
while surfing the net via ISDN (the server is a masquerading host voor
the other machine). No problem.
If I reboot the same machine into windows the server crashes (hard)
with:
----
skput:over:fffffe00000102501644
In swapper task - not syncing
----
This happens as soon as windows uses the card for the first time (i
guess by watching the lights on the hub). This is reproducable.

The server has a second NIC (NE 2000 comp. ISA card) for windows
machines not on the 100 Mb network. These windows machines can access
the server without a problem.

I hope this report is complete enough :-)
All suggestions for a (temporary) fix are welcome ;)

TIA,
Bas
