[realtek] rtl8139 locks for large file transfers via pvfs

Hi,
I am using rtl8139 on my beowulf cluster. The tcp/ip n/w seems to lock out 
when i try large file transfer via pvfs. The n/w is working fine for normal 
operation.The linux kernel verion i am using is 2.2.14(Redhat 6.2) and i am 
using the drivers that came along with RH6.2 .PVFS basicaly works on a 
client server fashion similar to nfs and uses only to ports 7000 and 
3000.The strange thing about pvfs is that when i use it to copy large files 
it causes the whole tcp/ip n/w to fail to function.ping,telnet,rsh all stop 
functioning.If it were a malfunction of the pvfs binaries then i should have 
affected only its ports.The crash hasn't killed the pvfs deamons either.
I tried killing all the pvfs related deamons but it was of no use.Only a 
reboot helped!
Could some one help me figure out why the card stops to function!
