problem

Thanks much for your help. I have reviewed the PCI table and the
interrupts. The PCI table states that I have video and the non-working
network card on IRQ 11. There shouldn't be a problem for PCI to share
interrupts. Also, when I check the interrupts, IRQ 11 does not show up.
What does that mean? BTW, I have two network cards in this system. An SMC
card, based on the Realtek 8029, which works and the Realtek 8139 card which
does not.

Thanks again.

The previous suggestions are good. Since you are new to linux, I'll
suggest you do

cat /proc/pci
cat /proc/interrupts

which will tell you if you indeed have a realtek card and if there are any
shared interrupt problems with other devices.
