Hey folks, Ive seen this all over usenet but could never find a solution.
I am running redhat 7.0 (2.2.16SMP) and with my eepro100 driver that came
with it, the performance of ftp is horrible. So I tried downloading the
latest 2.2.19 kernel and recompiled and installed. Same thing.

I also tried the mii-diag and it looks like the link is negotiating
correctly to 100Full

[root@anger /root]# ./mii-diag
Using the default interface 'eth0'.
Basic registers of MII PHY #1: 3000 782d 02a8 0150 01e1 41e1 0003 ffff.
 The autonegotiated capability is 01e0.
The autonegotiated media type is 100baseTx-FD.
Basic mode control register 0x3000: Auto-negotiation enabled.
You have link beat, and everything is working OK.
 Your link partner advertised 41e1: 100baseTx-FD 100baseTx 10baseT-FD
10baseT.
   End of basic transceiver informaion.

I went to the source and got the latest eepro100 driver
"eepro100.c:v1.15 5/18/2001 Donald Becker <becker@scyld.com>\n";

I did a make modules and then make modules_install
this all went fine and dandy, but when my machine rebooted It couldnt load
the eepro100 driver because of unresolved symbols
unresolved symbol acpi_set_pwr_state
unresolved symbol pci_drv_unregister
unresolved symbol pci_drv_register

anyone have any idea if
1. the performance problem would be cured with the newer driver.
2. why the newer driver wont load

regards,
Jason
