Subject:	Re: Randoms hang of onboard i8255x controler ( SMP
server )

	Hi,

Some more informations about this problem :

I tried to disable IRQ sharing in the adaptec driver ( an AIC7xxx is
	included
on the motherboard), this had no effect, I still get the same
behaviour
	from
	the i82558 adapter.

I also tried to increase debug level in the module : no relevant
	informations
	about the lock-up.

I tried compiling the eepro100 module with suggested optimisations
for
	SMP : no effect.

Disabling SMP in the kernel did not solve the problem.
I even tried different optimisation levels for the kernel without
	success.

I noticed the card stops issueing interrupts when it hangs.
Even removing the other NIC doesn't solve the problem ( There are no
	interrupts
	conflicts anyway ).

Tried linux-2.2.5ac7 & linux-2.2.6 kernels btw. Still no success.

I'm really disappointed. Could anyone help ? I ran out of ideas.

	Thanks,

	Raffaele

	P.S. :

	Mii-diag gives for eth0 ( I removed the supplementary EEPro100+ so
eth0
	is now
	i82558):

MII PHY in use is 1.
