<p>As some working in HPC as an indefinite length contractor in the U.S. this topic intrigues me. Even though the company I contract for has me training their new employees and basically in control of everything in their environment for the last 3 years, they
refuse to hire me on directly because I don't have a bachelors.</p>

<div>Yes… and that is a outward manifestation of a HR policy where they probably can't pay you enough as a non-exempt employee (e.g. The maximum paygrade for non-exempts tops out too low)</div>

<div>3 years.. You're getting close to probably needing to change contract companies or else the hiring company will run into fears of co-employment relationships.</div>
