PVM and clusters

Hello there, hope I'm not barking up the wrong tree here...

I'm having problems adding an "outside" machine to a Linux-cluster. I
guess one could call it a Beowulf, I've got a front-end node ("host")
and a dosen of diskless slave-nodes (but they have a RAM chip for /var
and /tmp). The network is double, i.e. the host has two IP numbers, one
for internal communication with the nodes and one for the external net.
Since the nodes have dedicated /tmp each I didn't install pvm (v.3.4.3)
using the shared /tmp option (hence I've got one pvm daemon started on
each node). In retrospect this was probably a mistake since the pvm
daemon on the host (front-end node) is run under the internal IP number,
hence I'm unable to add outside machines to the virtual machine.

Is the only solution to this problem to simply to re-install/upgrade pvm
using the beolin option, and more to the point, can I use beolin without
the shared /tmp option?

Best regards, Olafur.
