I have a “Cable/DSL” router from LinkSys which connects to my cable modem. I cannot get the NIC to talk to the router under Linux. I have set the NIC to auto-detect the media and duplex. I have Tried various options to the driver with no luck. I obtained netdrivers-2.1.src.rpm. Built & installed it per the instructions. Still, no luck. I am at the end of my rope on this one. I cannot access the net when running Linux. Yes, it works fine under WindowsMe, The other OS on the machine. Are there any undocumented “tricks” to get the 3com NIC and the router talking? When I run ‘/sbin/ifup eth0’ , dhcpcd ‘hangs’ for about 60 seconds and then reports ‘failed’. The link LED on the router is lit so I know the connection is ok ( also it works fine under windows ). I found out about the QNX license violation by seeing my error messages in their driver. If QNX had been open source, they likely never would have risked stealing the code.
