Yes, Intel has provided seed units to system integrators and software developers so they can start system and code testing. However, those samples are covered by NDA that does not allow performance measurements to be published, including comparisons with competing products. Only Intel can provide performance numbers for 55xx series processors today. But if you search for Core i7 benchmarks, you might get some idea of what's in store. And you can always talk to a sales engineer to discuss your computing needs and technology options directly, potentially under NDA.
