I can't help with the 'any logins' but re. remote login Fedora uses the Kerberised version of rsh: /usr/kerberos/bin/rsh Use the normal version /usr/bin/rsh and if that works take the Kerberos one out of your path. You're doing the right thing to install ssh also.
