I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for, but www.realvnc.com <http://www.realvnc.com> allows you to remote control across different platforms. On most distros of Linux, a VNC server is already included (x11vnc is the server included with xwindows, krdc is a client included with kde). Most (all?) of these work together, so for example you can use the RealVNC client on a windows machine to control your x11vnc session on a linux machine.
