Or try yum, if you haven't.  If you have an rpm-based distro, eg RH or
FC, you can set up an /etc/yum.conf and both list things that can be
installed, install them, update them, erase them all with a single
command and some options.  Sort of like wget and rpm rolled into one,
but smart enough to resolve all dependencies for you.

For example, when I installed audacity just to try it out I did so
from the FC2 stable repository with a "yum install audacity".  It then
discovered that I needed around four more rpm's to satisfy the
dependencies, grabbed all five, and installed them all with the single
command.

Beats the hell out of grabbing this rpm, then discovering that it
requires those three, and that one of the three requires two more, and
that one of THOSE requires another like it did in the "old" (pre-yup)
rpm era.
