Do i need > to create the files or do i need to install Linux 9 again? first, it's almost never appropriate to reinstall any unix - if you are, you're doing something wrong. the installer uses the same package tools that you can use if you forget to configure something during install. those files are security config files, and rsh is normally/correctly shipped without them. after all, they exist for the purpose of _reducing_ security; their meaning is described in their man pages. but probably all you really want is for each host to have all the hosts in the cluster listed in /etc/hosts.equiv.
