Well, as rgb says, there is not general case. However, if you dig in the literature, you can find lots of papers on out-of-core solvers for various kinds of algorithms. For example, there is a tremondous amount of literature on out-of-core solvers for linear problems. This also continues to be a research topic. Jeff
