> why do you think there's some OS specificity? afaikt, the results > would be reflected in SMART, which is most definitely available under Linux. i may be misunderstanding... is there a way of logging this under linux (software package, kernel patch?) or is this simply a bios-type message that will go into syslog automatically? i've done a search for smart and linux and found very little.
