hi ya unless you have about 1" of air gap above the fan... i say ( imho ) throw the fan away.... its just a noise maker when the system is covered... 9 there should be zero difference in temp between open air cpu temp and when the chassis cover is on ( should actually get better/lower cpu temp with the chassis cover on ) -- also use the onboard temp sensors to check the cpu temps... -- and if one is NOT careful.... even with 2U ... you still done have enough air flow if you use the wrong heatsinks/fan combo have fun alvin http://www.Linux-1u.net amd-1700+ in the 1U case runs at about 45deg C... pretty good ???
