MPICH (http://www.mcs.anl.gov/mpi/mpich) and PETSc 
(http://www.mcs.anl.gov/petsc) both run on IA64 clusters, though the 
volatile state of the compilers means that you may need to consult with the 
developers to resolve differences in compiler choice, level, and installation.
