how to configure the mpi ?

Hi,
some body wrote that the beowulf cluster should configure some secury
option so that the user can log in anther node withou password.but i have
some doubt that whether these changes are needed by run a mpi program?that
is to say,if the user want to run a program based mpi,he should change rsh
file or other option so he can visit nodes without password?whether it is
nessary?
