Dual P4 STREAM results

Now that dual "P4 Xeons" have been announced, using the same chipset (860) as existing single-cpu P4's, everyone can learn that the STREAM result for the dual system is basically the same as the STREAM result for the single cpu, i.e. about 1.5 GB/s total. Dang. I also saw an announcement that Serverworks has a 4-cpu chipset coming out that will use 4 DDR SDRAM banks to give about twice the theoretical bandwidth as the 860, for twice the cpus. Hopefully that ratio holds true for STREAM, and then this would be the first non-Intel chipset with great bandwidth. Unfortunately it's a server chipset and will no doubt be expensive, but the disease is spreading.... oh, and no, you don't *need* rambus to get the great bandwidth. -- greg
