CALL FOR PAPERS

The growing popularity of the Internet along with the availability of
powerful computers and  high-speed networks as low-cost commodity components
are changing the way we do computing.  Two advanced computing themes have
emerged: "cluster computing" and "global network  computing" (grid
computing).

CCGrid2001 is a new millennium symposium emerged as a follow up (or a merger) of
2000 symposium (APSCC 2000) held in Beijing, China and CC-TEA workshop series
held in the USA for the past four years (1997-2000).

CCGrid2001, sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society through the Task Force on
Cluster Computing, is designed to  bring together international cluster and
network-based computing researchers, developers,  and users. The symposium 
will also serve as a forum to present the latest work, and  highlight related 
activities from around the world.

The following topics concerning Cluster or Grid computing are of interest,
but not limited to:

* Hardware and Software (based on PCs, Workstations, SMPs or Supercomputers)
* Middleware for Clusters and Grids
* File Systems and Parallel I/O
* Scheduling and Load Balancing
* Programming Models, Tools, and Environments
* Communication systems such as: Message Passing Systems e.g. MPI and PVM or
  Shared Memory  Systems
* Programming Languages and System Software for supporting Grids and
  Clusters
* System Management and Administration
* Performance Evaluation and Modelling
* Resource Management and Scheduling
* Computational, Data, and Information Grid
* Computational Economy
* Problem Solving Environments
* Data Structure and Algorithms
* Scientific, Engineering, and Commercial Applications for Clusters and

PAPER SUBMISSION and PUBLICATION

Authors are invited to submit papers of not more than 10 pages of double
column text using  single spaced 10 point size type on 8.5 x 11 inch pages,
as per IEEE 8.5 x 11 manuscript  guidelines, see:
http://www.computer.org/cspress/instruct.htm. Authors should submit a
PostScript (level 2) or PDF file that will print on a PostScript printer.
Paper submission instructions will be placed on
http://www.ccgrid2001.qut.edu.au. Queries may be directed to the PC chair:
p.roe at qut.edu.au. 

All submitted (orginal and unpublished) papers will be peer-reviewed and all
selected papers will appear in the CCGrid 20001 symposium proceedings. 
The proceedings will be published through the IEEE Computer Society 
Press, USA and will also appear online in the IEEE Digital Library.

INNOVATIVE/BEST PAPER AWARDS

The CC-GRID symposium organisers are pleased announce that the IEEE Task 
Force on Cluster Computing (TFCC) will be presenting two best paper awards. 
The best papers will be selected based on recommendations by the program 
committee members and external reviewers. All recommended papers will be 
reviewed again by the awards committee that includes program chair and 
vice chairs. An extended version of best papers will also appear in
an international special issue.

JOURNAL SPECIAL ISSUE

In cooperation with the "Elsevier Science" Press, we are pleased to 
announce that there will be a special issue of the journal:
   Future Generation Computer Systems (FGCS)
   http://www.elsevier.com/locate/future 
based on the CCGrid 2001 symposium. Authors of INNOVATIVE paper awards
along with few selected papers will be invited to extend their papers for
inclusion in FGCS journal special issue scheduled for publication
after the symposium (tentatively late 2001).

WORKSHOPS/SPECIAL SESSIONS

We invite proposals for organising workshops or special sessions as part of
CCGrid2001. These special events are expected to be highly specialiased and
focused, and all selected papers will be published in the CCGrid2001 
proceedings. Those interested in organising special events, please contact

ABOUT CONFERENCE CITY:

   Brisbane is Australia's third largest city (1.6 million) and the
state capital of Queensland. Brisbane is about 500 miles (800 Km)
northeast of Sydney along the coast.  At latitude 27 S, Brisbane lies
roughly the same distance from the Equator as Miami, Florida in the USA.
Being in the subtropics, Brisbane's has near-perfect climate all year
round.

   May is a great time to visit Brisbane (Remember Australia has
winter from June to September).  May is before the arrival of crowds
from Sydney and other Australian cities further south escaping 
their chilly winter.

   Australia's not all that far from the USA.  Air time from Los
Angeles (LA) is about 14 hours.  Which is about the same air time as
from LA to Rome, Italy.

   Before and after the conference, there are plenty of opportunities
for day trips to visit Australia's unique wildlife, bushland, outback
